UW Alumni Association Releases Strategic Plan Draft and Invites Alumni Comment

    August 03, 2017

In April 2017, the UW Alumni Association board launched the process to review and update our Strategic Plan from 2015. Our purpose was to develop a plan with goals and strategies to ensure the Association is positioned to best assist UW in accomplishing its goals defined in its strategic plan - Breaking Through: 2017 - 2022 A Strategic Plan for the University of Wyoming.

keener_imodules.jpgOver the past few months, we have reviewed our vision, mission and values and our engagement, operating, and funding systems. In addition, we conducted an alumni survey to gather feedback from our alumni. The survey produced some valuable information that was helpful in drafting our strategic plan.

Our vision is to be an essential UW partner in leading and inspiring alumni and friends to stay connected to UW for life. To accomplish this vision, the broad goals and objectives of the UWAA 2017-22 Strategic Plan draft are to address:

    • Engagement - Educate, engage and mobilize alumni and friends to be advocates and ambassadors to advance a lifelong relationship with UW.

    • Communication - Be the catalyst for two-way communication with our UW Community to support UW aspirations.

    • Students - Enrich the student experience cultivating a life-long connection with the UWAA and UW.

    • Resources and Infrastructure - Secure fiscal and human resources to ensure high performing programs and services to meet the growing needs of the university and the UW Community.

Each goal and objective will include a set of measurable performance indicators.

Specifically, the draft plan calls for expanding alumni networks, strengthening alumni outreach activities, upgrading communication technology with increased focus on social media interaction, recruiting and expanding a pool of volunteers to support student recruitment, promoting career networking opportunities and implementing management, funding, reporting and outreach systems to ensure they support infrastructure and outreach to expand our connection with alumni and friends over the next five years.

The UWAA 2017-22 Strategic Plan draft and key strategic planning documents may be viewed on our website. The UW Alumni Association board is accepting public comment through August 18 and encourages UW alumni to provide feedback on the plan by emailing comments to Following revisions that may result from alumni, public and campus input, the plan will be presented for final consideration and approval by the board at the UWAA Board of Directors fall meeting on September 15-16, 2017. Implementation will begin shortly thereafter.

We are fortunate to have a supportive base of alumni and friends who believe in the University of Wyoming Alumni Association and understand the important part they play in advancing UW's future. We look forward to your contribution to this planning process.

My Best in Brown and Gold,

    Keener Fry
