The UW Alternative Breaks program out of the Service, Leadership & Community Engagement Office (SLCE), offered five different service trips during this past spring break. Each trip had a different focus that ranged from community development to hunger and homelessness. Students were able to spend their spring break serving local and global communities, developing their own leadership skills and building long-last relationships with each other and community members they interacted with. One trip in particular traveled to Kanab, Utah and spent their time at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary that houses over 1,600 homeless animals. Students spent their time socializing many animals in order to prepare them for adoption. One participant captured her incredible experience here.
