    The Top Laramie Winter Activities

    One of the best things about Laramie, Wyoming is the wide variety of activities available in the winter months. From snowboarding to snowshoeing there is something for everyone to enjoy. Here are some of the top things to do in Laramie over the winter months.

    Skiing & Snowboarding
    If you are a snowboarder of skier, or even wanting to learn, Snowy Range Ski Area is just a quick 45-minute drive west. With low rates and student discounts on lift passes Snowy Range is a great place to spend a Saturday. The area has four chairlifts and 27 trails so you can be sure to find something for you no matter your skill level.

    Hiking, Snowshoeing, & Cross-country Skiing
    Vedauwoo is located only 20 miles east of Laramie and offers hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing opportunities. There are a variety of trails with stunning views ranging from under a mile to close to three miles.

    The Happy Jack Recreational Area is also located near Vadauwoo, only a short distance from Laramie. Containing trails ranging from .4 miles to three miles there are enough options to spend a few hours or a whole day depending on what you want to do.

    Sledding & Tubing
    For those who enjoy less technical winter activities sledding around the Laramie area is a popular pastime. If you're looking to kill an hour or two there are several locations around Laramie where one can find a good sledding hill. If you'd rather make a day of it, one can head up to the Snowy Range Mountains and choose from a variety of locations.

    Every Saturday evening Snowy Range Ski Area stays open late for tubing under the lights. Riders take the lift up to the top and fly back down on an inner tube. Hot chocolate and snacks are for sale too to keep you warm in between rides.

    For the Indoor Enthusiast
    Not really into being outdoors during the winter? There’s still plenty of fun options for you.

    All Points West Family Fun Center offers laser tag and arcade games. Stay warm inside and still enjoy some physical activity by running around with your friends in an epic laser battle.

    The Laramie Ice and Event Center offers open skate sessions throughout the week. Grab a friend, rent some skates, and hit the ice. All of the joys of a winter activity with the convenience of being indoors.

    Laramie has a great movie theater with another set to open in the coming months. Regal Fox Theater 6 was remodeled last year to have all new theaters. The seats are now large and comfortable, and they recline! It's like sitting in the comfort of your living room if your living room had a giant screen that covered an entire wall. Student discounts on tickets are also available.

    With so many things to choose from, you'll never find yourself bored. Only in Laramie can you so easily hit the slopes on Saturday and go for a hike on Sunday. What will you do during the Laramie Winter?
