UW College of Business Alpha Kappa Psi Chapter - Principled Business Leaders

    April 22, 2015

by: Alpha Kappa Psi – Beta Nu, University of Wyoming

    Who we are

As Alpha Kappa Psi, we are the primary developers of principled business leaders. Beta Nu is the Alpha Kappa Psi chapter at the University of Wyoming. Our chapter currently has just shy of 100 members.

    What we do

Being a member of Alpha Kappa Psi gives business-minded students the opportunity to develop professional business skills throughout their college education. Alpha Kappa Psi brings in business professionals from different industries, giving members the opportunity to build connections and learn about real-world business experiences. Community Service requirements of members are put in place to develop well-rounded business professionals who give back to the local community. Fundraising requirements are designed to help fund different opportunities such as sending members to the Principled Business Leadership Institute each year, and other events throughout the year. Finally, being a member of Alpha Kappa Psi gives members the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and build a great circle of peers.

    Why we do it

Alpha Kappa Psi gives business-minded students the opportunity to learn more about the business industry than just what they are getting out of the classroom. As an organization, we take pride in the fact that we are the primary developers of principled business leaders. Our involvement in the College of Business allows for the students to receive supplemental education on the business world before graduation. Building a network and learning key business practices make for a principled business leader before graduation. We also like to share the knowledge that we learn to help other students within the College of Business be better business professionals after college.

    What we have accomplished

The regional Principled Business Leadership Institute is our primary external learning opportunity for Alpha Kappa Psi members. Funds raised with Alpha Kappa Psi – Beta Nu efforts gave the opportunity for all who were interested to travel to the institute. Ten members were sent to Dallas, Texas and ten were sent to Orlando, Florida in February 2015. Members attend leadership seminars learning different aspects of being a great business leader. Our chapter also requires that members participate in the case competition, giving them the most opportunity to learn from this event. In the case competitions, Beta Nu placed first and second in Orlando, and third in Dallas.
